On Friday, May 6 we will be holding our Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat services both in-person at the landmark Nidhe Israel synagogue in downtown Bridgetown, as well as on-line.  In particular we encourage visitors who may be here on holiday to join us in welcoming the Sabbath at our historic 17th century shul.  The service will begin promptly at 6:30pm.

At the end of the service (7:15 pm), in commemoration of Israel’s 74th year of independence, we are expecting to receive virtual greetings from the Israeli Ambassador to Barbados, His Excellency, Mr. Itai Bardov.  We have also invited Ms. Simone Rudder, the Permanent Secretary of the Barbados Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Selwyn Smith, Dean of the Consular Corps of Barbados, to say a few words.

The Shabbat Service will conclude with a reception for those attending in person, sponsored by Scott Oran, The Honorary Consul of Israel to Barbados, and his family.  Because refreshments are being served afterwards, we need a count of those attending: please RSVP your intended in-person participation to bjc@jewishbarbados.org

Your participation is welcome in either format, however if you plan to join us in-person at the synagogue, we kindly request:
(1) Please don’t join us unless you are at least double-vaccinated (honor system, please respect)
(2) All standard COVID protocols will be in effect (mask, sanitizing, etc.)
(3) Please remain in the seat we assign to you upon arrival for the duration of the service; there will be an opportunity after services to socialize in the open-air courtyard
(4) Please advise us in advance of your planned attendance by email at bjc@jewishbarbados.org.  For groups of five or more a confirmed reservation is required.

Services begin at 6:30pm local time.  If you would like to join us virtually, here is the meeting link.

The parsha this week is: Kedoshim, from the book of Leviticus (Va’Yikra 19:1-20:27)
