Barbados Jewish Community

President’s Message – April 2

Shabbat Shalom!
The word of the week:

It was so wonderful seeing young couples with their children moving to Barbados. I know that I am at the grandma stage of my life and kvell over all babies, but from a community perspective, it is such a blessing and opportunity to share our experiences and pass on traditions that define our Jewish heritage.

I look forward to the day when our community is enriched with children running in our synagogue. Hopefully we can rise to the occasion and provide them with an open hearted, fun and educational experience by creating sweet memories that they can pass onto their families someday.

My brother, Ron shared a lovely short film with me this week that you may enjoy. It brought back fond memories of making gefilte fish with Scott’s granny Sarah. I know we all have fond seder memories. These are the traditions that unite us and enrich our spirit! Enjoy! (Click to watch the film)

COUNTING OF THE OMER:  Last night (Wednesday) was the 4th night of the Counting of the Omer.

MUSICAL TRIBUTE:  I also wanted to include this musical tribute to Jerusalem that is so beautiful from Kveller.com.
