Barbados Jewish Community

President’s Message – July 3, 2020

Shabbat Shalom!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome two of our newest members to the community.  Liz Amsili and her family became members in March, and David Roe has just become a new member of the community.

We welcome you and look forward to celebrating and sharing our Jewish life together.  Community (Kehilla) is such an important part of Jewish life.  Rabbi Jill Jacobs writes in her article ( link below) It is no accident that the Jewish people call themselves “Am Yisrael“–“the people of Israel”— rather than “Dat Yisrael,” or “the religion of Israel.” It is our obligation, but also our joy to share, love, and protect those that are near to us. As Diana Ross sang…Reach out and touch somebody’s hand, Make this world a better place if you can”.

For those of you interested in this week’s Torah portion. This is a short video you might enjoy.

We will be continuing our Zoom Friday night services from 6:30pm tomorrow, July, 03. We hope to see you tomorrow!

Shabbat Shalom!

Sharon Oran, President
