President’s Message – July 8

Word of the week:

Dear all,

It is so good to be home!  I love travelling but I also love coming home. And this week I look forward to once again going to services in person at Nidhe Israel Synagogue. It’s summer and the Island is quiet, but congregants all over the world face similar challenges. A member of our community went to a synagogue in the U.S and they had seven people attend out of an 800-member congregation. It is important to stay positive and find ways to connect. With that in mind, please look out for our flyer announcing the first lecture in our 2022 lecture series beginning on July 25, at 7pm. We have some amazing speakers that you won’t want to miss.

This week’s Torah portion is:  Parashat Chukat. “In this Torah portion, God instructs Moses and Aaron regarding the red heifer. Miriam, who is the sister of Moses and Aaron, dies. Moses hits a rock to bring forth water rather than speaking to it. At the end of the portion, Aaron dies”. Click here for the full summary.
