President’s Message – March 19

Shabbat Shalom to all.
Word of the week:

It was a long month for most people in lock down and there is an energy in the air that feels a lot like spring. We are all coming out of our dens slowly stepping into life as we knew it. There are still so many questions unanswered about vaccines, safety when we travel etc. More questions than the four we will ask next week, but one question in particular feels so relevant. Normally at the Seder we ask, “Why is this night different from all other nights”, but this year it feels more appropriate to say; “Why is this year different from all other years”? It is a good question to ask at your Seder next week. Although the answer may be obvious in some ways, if we really think about what has changed within ourselves this past year, the answers may vary considerably.

Congratulations and thank you all for your wonderful response to our Tzedekah 2X Match Food Drive. We exceeded our expectations with donations over $5000. As of today, we will be donating $10,850 to The Salvation Army who manage a food programme in Barbados.

Mazel-Tov goes out to the Ramot family (presently in Barbados on the 12 month visa programme) who will be holding a Bar-Mitzvah for their son, Rafi this coming Saturday morning.

Our Passover goods have arrived. For those of you who have not collected them as yet please make sure and do so by Tuesday of next week. They can be collected from Sheraton Mall office (437.0970 ext.1).  We also brought in Yahrtzeit candles.  If you need one for Pesach it is our gift to you.  For all additional candles needed it will be $4.00 each.
