Barbados Jewish Community

President’s Message – May 28

Word of the week:

Dear all,

This week I attended a Commonwealth Jewish Women’s Network ZOOM meeting about educational challenges for small Jewish communities throughout the commonwealth. There were five attendees from Uganda, one from Bermuda, one from Nairobi, Kenya, one from Exeter, England, one from Mumbai, one from London and Gilda and myself representing Barbados. It was an excellent discussion on the educational challenges that these small communities face. It is humbling to connect with Jews from around the world and recognize that each of us in our own way is simply trying to provide Jewish continuity. We shared some great ideas on how we can collaborate with one another. It made me realize how vital it is to feel connected, especially during times like this, when anti-Semitism is increasing around the world.

If you are struggling with how to respond to anti-Israel sentiment, anti-Jewish sentiment, trouble responding to Instagram posts, please reach out to your committee members. We have a lot of articles that might be helpful at this time. Please see this flier on a workshop that is being held virtually at the Temple Emmanu-el Streicker Center. And please join the ADL in a day of ACTION AGAINST ANTI-SEMITISM tomorrow, May 27. (Click the link below)
