President’s Message – May 7

The word of the week:

Dear all,

This coming Sunday we will be celebrating Mother’s Day. It is a day when we think about the inspirational women in our lives. For many it is a mother figure who has nurtured and inspired us to be our best selves. The Jewish mom was always the one who prepared all the holiday meals, lit the Shabbat candles and created a Jewish home. She was the one who put the heart and spirit into the holiday celebrations through food and traditions. “In Jewish folklore, Rachel became identified with the indwelling Presence of the Divine (the Shekhina), and the spiritual mother who accompanied the Jewish people into exile and remained disconsolate until their return.” My personal hero is my mom who is strong, independent, devoted to her children, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren. To all the inspirational women out there…Happy Mother’s Day!  Read more from the article quoted above here: https://www.jewishrhody.com/stories/the-jewish-connection-to-mothers-day,6602
