President’s Message – November 19

Word of the week:

Dear all,

I am getting ready to travel in two days to celebrate Thanksgiving and Chanukah with all my family. That means a BIG reunion with cousins from Israel, California, Seattle and of course all of us in Barbados. Besides lots of incredible food, this is a time to celebrate our love and unity as a family. To laugh, hug and share our stories and to introduce our newest members of the family.

Our Jewish community is also like a family. We celebrate our Mitzvahs together, mourn our losses and share our stories. We may not go to the same movies, dine together at restaurants, or even share the same views on many topics, but we rejoice at seeing one another, share our holidays together and celebrate Judaism, not only as a religion, but as a shared commitment to continue our traditions for generations to come. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and I look forward to a wonderful Chanukah celebration together!

CHANUKAH

This year Chanukah begins on November 28th at sundown and ends at sundown on December 6th. We are hoping to hold a small Chanukah celebration on Sunday, December 5th at 5:30pm at Nidhe Israel synagogue. I say “hoping” because the COVID situation in Barbados will determine our ability to proceed.
