President’s Message – November 27

Shabbat Shalom!

Word of the week:

This coming Monday we will be celebrating Barbados’ 54th year of Independence! I have lived in Barbados for 40 years now and have seen so many changes. When I first arrived we had only one TV channel that came on at 5:30pm with “Days of Our lives” and ended after the news around 10:30pm. We had donkey carts filled with coconuts on the road and small shops instead of big grocery stores. Yet through all the changes, Barbados has remained a country with a vibration of love, integrity and determination. As Jews in Barbados, we have enjoyed a life of religious freedom, something we should never take for granted. Happy Anniversary Barbados!

Below is a link to the Jewish morning prayer of gratitude called the Modeh-Ani. As we begin to “recognize the good” even in small ways, it will undoubtedly lead us to noticing the good in other areas of our lives. Gratitude affirms. It has a way of multiplying. As we profess gratitude, the more reasons we will find to be thankful.
