President’s Message – October 16

Shabbat Shalom!

As I mentioned last week, we had a very special celebration on October 10th.  What made the wedding even more meaningful to us was that my mom, brother and sister-in law were here to join us for this mitzvah. After being separated from my mom for so many months, I was overwhelmed with emotion spending quality time with her. Seeing the look on my mom’s face as she watched her granddaughter walk down the aisle, and later on embracing her grandson, reminded me that the love we share as a family is timeless and has the power to move mountains and uplift our spirit.

We were not the only ones to have such an amazing mitzvah this week.  On October 11th, outside of Brisbane, Australia, Neal Rechtman watched on ZOOM as his son, Jonathan Rechtman married Emma Zhang, daughter of Kevin and Hua Zhang of Guangzhou, China.  Mazel-Tov to Neal and his entire family on this momentous occasion!

I am including an article about the Shema who many consider the most important prayer in Judaism. It is a prayer that I recite to myself every morning as I awake and every evening before I go to sleep.  https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/the-shema/

We will be continuing our Zoom Friday night services from 6:30 pm tonight, October 16.
