The word for the week:
“Hebrew word for “charity” Tzedakah, simply means “justice” and as this suggests, for Jews, giving to the poor is no optional extra but an essential part of living a just life.”
— Peter Singer
This week I am writing to you to request your assistance. Based on emails received from last week’s Presidents message, the committee has decided to create a Tzedakah fund to assist those people in our community who are in need. If you would like to contribute please send any amount to The Barbados Jewish Community with a note on the bottom (for our Tzedekah fund.) Please note that all requests for assistance will be held in the strictest confidence.
Here is a link to an article about Tzedekah.
Please see the below times and dates regarding our return to in person services at The Nidhe Israel Synagogue, Bridgetown. If you would like to host an Oneg Shabbat (the dates still available are December 11th and 25th) please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
