Shabbat Shalom!
The word for the week:
“Hebrew word for “charity” Tzedakah, simply means “justice” and as this suggests, for Jews, giving to the poor is no optional extra but an essential part of living a just life.”
— Peter Singer
This week I am writing to you to request your assistance. Based on emails received from last week’s Presidents message, the committee has decided to create a Tzedakah fund to assist those people in our community who are in need. If you would like to contribute please send any amount to The Barbados Jewish Community with a note on the bottom (for our Tzedekah fund.) Please note that all requests for assistance will be held in the strictest confidence.
Here is a link to an article about Tzedekah.
